1. SPRING! TIME FOR SEX, ART AND FLOWERS

It's getting warmer... and it’s times for the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees!

If you happen to find yourself in San Francisco, don't miss the wonderful exhibition at the Asian Art Museum called "Drama and Desire: Japanese Paintings from the Floating World 1690-1850". There you'll find a rare display of three stunning Shunga scrolls (erotic Japanese paintings) from the Edo period. Many museums in the US are more than reluctant to show these wonderful images, in effect censoring the actualities of another culture. This exhibition bravely delves into the realities of the pleasure quarters of Japan and it's art. I had the pleasure of presenting as part of a panel on Japanese sexuality along with the esteemed scholars, Dr. Shozo Sato (Nakamura Kanzo IV) and Dr. Timon Screech. Don't miss the gorgeous image a couple, locked in passion with cherry blossoms flying around them.

Speaking of art, The Seattle Erotic Art Festival returns. By the time you read this I will be strolling the exhibition during their Gala party. It's exciting that there are more and more quality venues and festivals showing artists who capture the sensual states.

Later this month I'm heading down to Buenos Aires for some tourist fun. I hear it's an elegant and artistic city, so I wonder if there will be venues for the erotic artists as well? Of course the famed tango is an erotic art form in its own right that I won't be missing! If any of you reading this are from Buenos Aires, drop me a line!

6. BIRTHDAY BASH AT BEACH BLANKET BABYLON

I'm turning 42 this May. I figured I'd throw a very special birthday party and make it a fun gathering and a super cool fundraiser for my AIDS Life Cycle journey this year. If you've not heard of Beach Blanket Babylon you know it's a fun, cheeky theater show that's been going on in San Francisco for ages. It's fun for everyone. I'd even happily take my mom this! (I wonder if I can get her over from Japan?)
