1. A NEW YEAR - LOOKING AHEAD
Happy New Year to all!
It's been a lovely quiet month for me - spent at home with the core family and
catching up at the office. Soon it'll be time to get back on the road again. I'm not
sure if it's the change of the calendar page with its seemingly obligatory
reflection, the start of a new tour season or the illnesses of friends and family
and aging parent - but I find myself contemplative as I craft this newsletter.
Where will each of our lives take us in the near future?
How will our paths cross?
In what imperceptible ways will we affect those whose paths and lives we intersect?
As we face the tide of vast and numbing world affairs, waves of global changes that
seem obliteratingly enormous - will we, the individual, choose to fall to our knees
in powerlessness and drown in the black water of fear? Or will we curse the heavens
a few strong words, then grab a bucket and start bailing? Will we trust that each
bucket full of misery and pain bailed away makes a difference, or will we mock the
ones who bail as foolishness? When the bucket bailing fool is exhausted will we step
up and comfort, take a turn at the bailing or walk away for higher ground of
entitlement and apathy?
Each of us touches lives in ways we don't expect - even in the smallest of actions.
Let's make each action and interaction count for some good.
(I promise not to write too often when it's so late at night - it makes me just a
tad too, um, serious I suppose.)
Wishing you peace, pleasure and joy in the New Year!
